Three ways to Make your Home look Like you hired an Interior Decorator

When it comes to interior décor the idea is to make your home Fabulous AND Functional. The question is how to take you interior space from blah to beautiful without the expense of a professional Interior Decorator?

Follow these tips and you will be the envy of your friends who will likely be asking for the number of your interior decorator.

 The Color effect

Choose a Color Scheme from the Largest Pattern in the Space.   If you have patterned upholstery, a colorful rug or large piece of artwork, pull colors from the pattern. For a neutral paint color use pattern’s whites and beiges. Also, decorate from dark to light. Use darker colors for the floor, medium color for the walls, and light for the ceiling. Interior space should replicate the outside world. The environment is generally darker at the surface and accented by a lighter sky.

Unique Antiques and Works of Art

If you have made an investment in buying antiques and vintage pieces, put them it in the living room or at a place where it catches maximum eyes. This way you’ll create an aura of your house being modern and lavish. Be careful not to overdo it. One or two stately pieces will do.

Add textures

Textures are as important as colors. A room at the first glance would look like a single color scheme but if you look closely, you would find plenty of shades and textures, a leather sofa, silk cushions, shimmery lamps, all these add texture. Texture creates an illusion of your house having a rich and sophisticated atmosphere.

When it comes to interior decor, follow these three tips and your home will look like something that was featured in a popular interior design publication.  The question is to share your secrets with your friends or keep it to yourself? Well that is entirely up to you!
